Car

I am working with a young mother of 3 who is in need of a vehicle. She has been working very hard at making positive changes and she is doing very well. She is in need of a car after getting into a car accident and totaling her vehicle. She needs a car to help get her children to daycare, work, and other appointments. We would be interested in discussing any vehicle despite of work needing to be done as this individual does have a strong support system that may be able to assist in some repairs.

Wheelchair Bound Needs Lift

A mother utilizes a wheelchair after having multiple surgeries to her lower body. She drives a 2020 Chevy Equinox that does not have chair lift installed. This mom uses her upper body strength to pull herself into her vehicle, then scoots to the trunk area, to pull her wheelchair into the vehicle. When it's time to exit, she puts her chair down from the trunk and climbs into the chair, from the trunk. If possible, she needs lift installed on her current vehicle. Or, she needs a vehicle with a lift.

Sports Wheelchair for Active Young Man

This individual is a young man who is living with the effects of paraplegia resulting from a spinal cord injury. He relies on a manual wheelchair to meet his mobility needs. He is inspirational in his motivation and very active lifestyle as he strives to reach his highest potential and level of independence both at home and in the community. He attends college and works out regularly at a gym. He strives to “step” outside of his comfort zone to challenge himself to become the best person he can be both physically and mentally. He recently discovered adaptive sports to include activities such as kayaking, basketball, softball, skiing and golfing and is ecstatic about the potential for further participation in them. He has been able to experience some of these sports with the use of a loaner sports wheelchair designed for these types of activities and wants to participate in adaptive team sports. He has been able to obtain a grant to put towards obtaining his own sports wheelchair but is in need of additional funds to cover the total cost. His current grant will expire at the end of this year so he has limited time to come up with the extra funds.

Emotional Support Animal Request

Message from the Case Manager: I have a client who is 65 years old who lives alone in a pet-friendly apartment complex in Shakopee. She has a history of major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, and is getting lonelier as she ages. My client has done extensive research on the adoption process and has a plan for on-going financial support after she adopts her companion. With my client being on disability, she doesn’t have the adequate funds for the upfront cost, such as the adoption fee and purchasing the initial supplies needed like toys, food, or vet bills. Donations are being asked to assist my client with the initial cost for adoption of the emotional support animal which will provide support with her mental health and quality of life.

dumpster needed for fresh start

A single dad raising two teenagers while working full time is in need of some help. The household chores have become too much and they have excess trash. He is hoping for a one time dumpster rental for help in cleaning up his home. The fathers mother is traveling to Shakopee to help clean up the home. This would be a really good fresh start before the school year and then allow the father to better keep up on the household chores. This would give him some hope in maintaining the home as well!

disabled senior needs car repair for on-going white blood cell disorder

A senior on Social Security Disability has a car that needs an axel repair. She says $600.00 should fix it including parts and labor. She drove over a pot hole three years ago which caused the damage. She has undergone 3 bone marrow biopsies which are very painful. She suffers from a condition called, Neutropenia, which she has had since childhood. She is on several programs to retain her meager income of Supplemental Security Income, Minnesota Supplemental Income and her extra food allotment since she has a condition that her doctor says needs special food. She lives in senior low-income housing, receives SNAP (food stamps) gets the CAP Agency's Energy Assistance, knows about and gets food shelf, and is on both Medicare and Medicaid (known as Medical Assistance in Minnesota.) She sees a doctor regularly for her condition and also has GERD (acid reflux) which is why she needs to eat foods that are low acid or do not cause her body to generate acid. She would be grateful for any help that anyone could donate to this very worthy cause. She will be 65 in December. Thanks so much for your condideration.
