She is a survivor of domestic violence that left her with a traumatic brain injury; her daughter has recently been going through evaluations for behavioral health, and she is struggling to keep her head up. Over the summer she removed some toxic people from her life and spent some time reflecting and clearing her mind. She decided that she really wants to be an esthetician. She started looking into schools and landed on one in Bloomington. She applied for the school, filled out the FAFSA, and ultimately was accepted. She is on a VERY limited budget and is in need of some gas cards to get her going. She is currently receiving MFIP benefits and will eventually get reimbursed for her mileage to and from school, but she needs to get to school first! Attendance at school is very important and this is a huge worry for her. We are hoping to obtain a gas card for client to get her by until she can get any type of county reimbursement. Her commute to and from school is 15 miles each way, and she will also need to pick up and drop off her daughter at daycare (a slight detour). | Help Now | Be the “spark” for a 70-year-old woman needs new spark plugs and coils for her 2006 Nissan FrontierA 70-year-old female senior with extensive "co-morbidities" needs help repairing her 2006 Nissan Frontier that has lost its spark! She is very independent and needs her car for frequent doctor appointments, grocery shopping and errands. Her income is just above the Federal Poverty Guidelines at $1,360.00 a month. She pays for lot rent and utilities. Although she qualifies for the CAP Agency's Energy Assistance, that does not last the whole year. She has had heart valve replacement, pacemaker implanted, cataract surgery and with her last medical procedure was told that due to her extensive co-morbidities, they wouldn't even schedule another procedure since the potential risk would outweigh the potential benefits. She lives in an area that doesn't have mass transit and even with the CAP Agency's Chore Assisted Transportation Program, needs a car for day-to-day needs. Volunteers with this program can help out but not to the extent that having one's own car provides. | Help Now | Reclining seat in car that needs repair with driver’s seat in permanent reclining position!Senior who recently went through unexpected divorce is trying to supplement income with driving for Uber, needs her driver's side, front, car seat fixed since it won't stay in an upright position. It got stuck in a permanent reclining position which is not recommended for driving and especially when transporting customers from the airport which is what she is planning to do considering that is safest place to obtain customers, for a female driver. She knows someone who is able to fix the seat, but needs about $250.00 for the repair. She is placing a cushion between her back and the seat but knows this isn't a permanent fix, nor would it be advisable for a "professional" driver and may even not be legal. It would correctly appear to be dangerous should the pillow become dislodged in the commute and cause her to be flung backwards losing sight of on-coming traffic and losing control of the vehicle. | Help Now | Urgent need for medical transportation fundsA medical stretcher transport from Shakopee to Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. As this senior woman has stated, "I am respectfully reaching out to request any assistance that may be available to help cover the cost of a round-trip stretcher transportation from my residence in Shakopee to Methodist Hospital in St. Loust Park. I am currently recovering from a broken left femur and have been placed on non-weight-bearing status for up to six months. Due to my condition, I am unable to use stairs and require3 stretcher transport. At this time, I do not have active medical insurance (she is $100.00 over the limit for Medical Assistance/aka Medicaid) and my Medicare coverage will not take effect until January 1, 2026. The Estimated cost for a round-trip stretcher transportation ranges from $720.00 to over $1,000. My medical appointment is scheduled for December 24th, at 10:45 a.m. (date subject to change due to the holiday. I have searched and the most affordable option is Quality Stretchers, LLC. Any assistance or guidance you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated during this difficult time. Thank you for your time and consideration. She is bed-ridden and has to be cared for 24 hours a day by him. The RVHS has contributed $100.00 towards this need but cannot go over that limit. The nurse that saw the patient says that this is urgent and cannot wait. Due to the complication of her break, she must be seen by the doctor at Methodist Hospital. Any contribution is not too small. If several donors are able to pitch in, she can gather the necessary funds to enable her to be seen by the specialist. He had four different, major 4 surgeries in the last two years, and was never able to go back to work. They rely on a single limited income and cannot afford necessary car repairs. The wife was able to research more affordable car repair shops and found a discount tire store in Bloomington. The two new tires for a 2017 GMC Arcadia would be $500.00. Their vehicle needs these new tires, especially in the snowy weather that is occurring. They are unable to cover this expense at this time.
