Before and After School Care

We have an amazing family at HB that is currently supported by McKinney Vento, a program used to support families that are experiencing homelessness. There are two phenomenal students that are currently attending HB. Parent of the two students has recently gotten a great opportunity and landed a great job. The job requires here to start at 8:00 each day. In order to accommodate the work schedule she needs to drop off her students before school starts and pick them up after the school day ends. We are reaching out to find a partner that could help support the cost of the before and after school cost. Mornings are our greatest priority right now and the cost for that is $1,417. We would love to request am and pm and that cost would be $2,398. Thank you for considering and please call me with any questions. Thank you!!

Ex Foster kid car repairs

This need is for an 18 year old boy who was taken from his mom at 10 and put into foster care and passed from home to home and asked to leave when he turned 18. He is currently living in an opportunity home in Shakopee. This young man struggles with depression, anxiety and rejection issues which has caused getting on a good healthy sleep and work routine very difficult, but was finally doing better when he was able to keep a job for over 3 months. Unfortunately, his older car is having some troubles now and he is not able to get to work starting to become a huge set back for him. Total amount for repairs is around $2,000.

Shoes for Ankle Braces

There is a 2 year old boy in the community who uses orthotic braces to help him walk with improved alignment. He is in need of this specific type of shoe to fit over his orthotics and support his feet and ankles optimally. These are more expensive than the family is comfortable paying for shoes at this time and the family has not had any luck finding an appropriate pair second hand. Details of the shoes are listed below. If someone in the community is willing to purchase the shoes for $39.99 +$5 shipping, they could be shipped to Pearson Early Learning Center in Shakopee. Thank you for considering helping this awesome kid and his family! Car Troubles

A young, homeless mom with a 4 year old daughter (couch surfing) had a '99 maxima and the clutched went out about a month ago. She is currently on assistance for daycare for her daughter but hasn't been able to drive her there in 20 days and is now at risk to losing that stability for her daughter. Her daughter gets breakfast, lunch and a light dinner everyday at daycare, which she might not otherwise be getting consistently at home. She has a job lined up and waiting for her once her car is fixed, but currently doesn't have any income since she can't drive and has had her daughter at home everyday.

Gift Cards Needed

With the seasons changing, we are seeing an uptick on needs for gift cards for our community in need. Ones in particular are Uber, Cub Foods/Walmart, and any gas gift cards. These gift cards are especially import to have on hand as we try to help the needs of someone who is homeless or living in their car as soon as they come into our network. Especially the need for gas station gift cards and with colder temperatures at night. For some, the only heat they may have is from their car.

Gobbler Hopper

This month, we are launching a campaign to collect turkeys for those who may not otherwise be able to afford one. How this works is with the link provided below, you can donate $15 to purchase a turkey and in return, you will receive a free beer at either The Boat House Brewery in Prior Lake, The Shakopee Brewhall in Shakopee, or Loons Landing in Prior Lake. We are partnering with Cub Foods in Shakopee to purchase these turkeys at a discounted rate. That being said, if you go to Cub Foods and try to purchase one on FISH's behalf, they will not sell you one. Once we receive all the turkey funds, FISH with go and buy all the turkeys at once, and distribute to different organizations like M.I C.A.S.A and other local food shelves. Let’s help people gobble until they wobble this holiday season! https://www.fishpartnernetwork.org/gobbler/

HOTEL/PHONE FUNDS

A family of 3 has to move out of their house ASAP. They are looking for some funds for a hotel while they figure out their housing options. They also had their phones shut off and can only use wifi while making calls- which is making it difficult to find housing and resources with a restricted phone. $200 for a few nights in a hotel and $100 to have the phone turned back on to be put on a payment plan. Anything would be helpful and go towards their needs.
