Help Keep a Local Family of Nine in Their Home This Holiday Season

We are seeking community support for a local family currently facing eviction and in urgent need of financial assistance. There are nine people living in a three-bedroom home, including five children under the age of 18 and four adults. Recently, the family’s primary financial provider left the home, leaving them without the means to stay current on rent and essential expenses. Of the remaining adults, one is disabled and unable to work, and another is currently hospitalized. This family is doing their best to stay together and maintain stability for the children, but they are past due on rent and at risk of losing their home. Our goal is to raise enough funds to bring their rent current and cover one additional month of rent to help them get through the holiday season with stability and dignity. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference for this family. Your generosity will help ensure these children and adults have a safe place to call home during the holidays. Thank you for your compassion and support.

Help a Local Family Save Their Belongings

A local family who has been experiencing homelessness for over a year is facing a heartbreaking situation. They have a storage unit at Acorn Mini Storage in Shakopee where all of their belongings are kept — clothing, furniture, and personal keepsakes. Because they fell behind on payments, the storage company has locked the unit and plans to auction everything off in October if the balance isn’t brought current. The family can afford the monthly payments moving forward, but they can’t afford the $300 lump sum needed right now to stop the auction. This is their last link to the things they’ve worked so hard to hold onto during a really tough season. Losing it would mean starting over with nothing. We’re asking our community to come together to raise $300 to help this family save their belongings and give them hope moving forward. Even small contributions will make a big difference. Thank you for showing kindness and support in helping keep this family’s future intact.

Single Mom of Five Facing Eviction Needs Support to Stay Housed

Single mom is reaching out for assistance, please read her response. I am reaching out to ask for $1,800 in rent assistance to help my family through a really difficult time. I recently lost my job after unexpected car problems made it impossible to get to work. My car is now being repaired, and I’m grateful to have a new job lined up starting in September, but in the meantime, I’ve fallen behind on rent. I’ve tried to get help through emergency programs and CAP, but haven’t been able to receive support, and now I’ve been given an eviction notice. I’m a mom of five, and the thought of my kids and I losing our home and having to go into a shelter is overwhelming. This support would give us the chance to stay in our home while I get back on my feet. It would mean stability for my children during this tough stretch, and I would be so deeply grateful for any help you can give.

Request for Support for a Family in Crisis

A local mom and her 5th-grade son are currently experiencing homelessness and staying in a hotel while actively searching for stable housing. The family moved to Minnesota this year and does not have family or a local support system in the area. While she is working closely with local agencies, including the CAP Agency in Scott County, to access housing resources and get on waitlists, their current hotel reservation ends on Monday, May 19. Without immediate assistance, they will have nowhere to go. We are seeking to raise $1,332.55 to extend their hotel stay through June 2, providing them with safe, temporary shelter while long-term supports are being secured. Any contribution toward this urgent need is greatly appreciated and will go directly toward covering the cost of their stay.
