our Families Moving Forward - Southwest program center is moving on Saturday, March 19! We have some exciting opportunities for volunteers to be the first to see the program center and be involved with the moving process:* Friday, March 11: Clean and prepare the new space at Shepherd of the Hill, Chaska * Saturday, March 12: Paint and prepare the new space at Shepherd of the Hill * Saturday, March 19: Help with the loading at Shepherd of the Lake, Prior Lake and the unloading at Shepherd of the Hill * Saturday, March 19: Help us clean Shepherd of the Lake so we can leave it just as nice as it was when we moved in! This mother of 3 packed up herself and her children for an opportunity out-of-st

UPDATE: NEED VOLUNTEERS THE FIRST AND SECOND SUNDAYS OF EACH MONTH: Families Moving Forward has a family moving out of the shelter, yay! And she needs some help with the move. Single mother of 3, just secured a job so she is using most of her savings and first paycheck to secure housing. Now she needs help with getting her items out of storage. Her storage unit is in Blaine and she is moving to Prior Lake. We are looking for assistance March 5 and 6 with a 16' moving truck and volunteers to help move the items into her new home. We are also looking for gas or Walmart gift cards to help offset the cost of her moving and securing housing.

CALL TO SERVICE, FAMILIES IN NEED ? Families Moving Forward Southwest is seeking

UPDATE: WE NEED MORE GROUP VOLUNTEERS ON THE FIRST AND SECOND SUNDAYS OF EACH MONTH AT OUR NEW LOCATION! Volunteers are needed at our Day Center, located at Shepherd of the Hill Church, 145 Engler Blvd.Chaska, MN 55318 Phone: 952-230-2930. We would welcome individuals, families, groups, or congregations to volunteer with us. We find that volunteers who can commit to a regular schedule each week or month better establish supportive relationships with our families. We are seeking volunteers for the following shifts: ? Sundays, 8am ? Noon ? Sundays, Noon ? 4pm ? Weekdays, as needed (4 hour shifts during the day) Volunteers help coordinate with families as they come and go, and we encourage volunteers to plan activities for the children in the program. Someone to rent a, 3-4 bedroom home to a good family currently staying in shelter, who are committed to positive change. The family can pay up to $1,250 in rent; ideally this would include some utilities as well. The family is willing to consider any option in the Scott and Carver area that gets them into a home of their own.

More than 50 families experience homelessness in Scott and Carver Counties on an

Update: These items are still needed: We are seeking personal and hygiene items for homeless families sheltered in the Families Moving Forward (FMF) program. The FMF program provides overnight shelter at partner congregations. During the day, families are based at our program center in Prior Lake, working with a family advocate to seek housing and jobs and doing laundry, taking showers, and otherwise making a temporary home. The specific items needed are: gas cards, diapers (size 2 & 4), baby wipes, socks (all sizes), bath towels, deodorant (women and men), razors, shampoo and conditioner. Since opening last May, FMF has served 37 children in fourteen families.
