The client is living on a very limited budget and is using her limited resources

I am working with a single mother with a 13 year old son who has ADD and Dyslexia. She is presently unemployed and living on her unemployment; she receives no child support. She is busy job searching using the Minnesota Work Force Center, INDEED and friends to find jobs she is qualified to perform. Her transportation is her 2003 Acura and she has been told by her mechanic that it needs major repairs to the struts, brakes and replacement of tires. The mechanic has broken down the repairs into 3 categories and is willing to complete repairs over time doing the most needed first.

Father was laid off from work for 2 months

I am working with a family of five. They have limited income at this time due to the father's recent layoff from work. The father has started working again and they were able to budget so as to stay up on all their bills and provide the eseesntials for the children. This family has experienced multiple traumatic events over the past two years and parents have been struggling to provide access to therapy for their children on a weekly basis. Scott County is temporarily assisting with transportation for therapy at this time due to parent's work schedules and need to increase household income. Currently three of the children have the opportunity to attend drivers education classes at their new school. Obtaining their licenses will increase the family's independence and allow them to access services as needed. The cost for the classes is $60.00 per child. The school is looking to offer a scholarship that would decrease family responsibilty to $35.00 per child with payment due by April 11th. Due to the limited income at this time the family is unable to afford this cost. The total amount needed is $105.00 to cover all three children. If anyone is able to help with any part of this request it would be a tremendous help to this family in meeting continued mental health needs.

Mom is unable to retrieve items left in another person’s home.

I am writing for some help getting some items for a toddler in Belle Plaine. The mom and the daughter (14 months) were living with another family member, but left that household due to the conditions of the home. When they initially left they were unable to get all of the child?s things. The child needs clothing (size 12 months and up) and shoes (size 4 and up), a dresser, and age appropriate toys. Mother and daughter moved to Shakopee on Saturday, after leaving an unhealthy do

Update: Bed has been donated. Family still needs pots and pans. I am looking for help for a family that needs a twin bed (for a 4-year old) and pots and pans. If someone is able to help with a twin bed, it would need to be delivered to the family. The mom does not have the means to pick it up. The pots and pans can come to me at the CAP Agency.

Mother-to-be has no baby supplies and father is not involved in her life.

I am writing on behalf of a client I am working with who is in desperate need of baby supplies. Before meeting with her today, she found out that she?ll be having a little boy at the end of April. Several items were donated through FISH, but she still needs a crib and pack-and-play. The baby?s father is not involved and not expected to contribute as he wanted my client to terminate her pregnancy. This soon-to-be young mother is a hard worker, attending school full time while also maintaining a part time job. Being motivated and self-directed, she wants to continue to pursue her education after the baby is born. Childcare will be an issue for her; she has already applied for subsidized childcare with Scott County, but that wait list is estimated to be over a year long. My client lives with her mother who provides support where she can, but cannot offer financial help as she is also living on little. I realize it is unrealistic to ask for assistance with long term daycare costs, however, if anyone has other ideas pertaining to low-cost daycare for a young mother who is pursuing a post-secondary education it would be greatly appreciated.

Family experienced homelessness.

Another social worker and I have been working with a family of four in Shakopee over the past 8 months. During this time the family has been able to work themselves from homelessness to a one-room living situation. On top of improving their living situation the family has also made progress in many other areas. Although this living situation is a great improvement for them their space is still limited as they have four people in their one room place. This family could really use some help obtaining organization supplies. White boards and items to track chores were donated - thank you! The family still needs a container and folders to keep important documents and paperwork. A gift card to office max would also work wonderfully for this family. If you can assist with this request
