Thank you to everyone who attended our meeting last week at the Family Resource Center- what a great meeting with so much information. I wanted to highlight a few things that one of the speakers, KaSondra, sent me after the meeting regarding MTVA Connect:

MVTA Connect
https://connect-mvta.hub.arcgis.com/
– Currently, MVTA Connect does not serve Shakopee, but Savage is served in Scott County.
– MVTA has many fixed routes to help individuals get around Shakopee, Prior Lake, and Savage of Scott County.
– If you would like further information on what routes would best support your organization or need further information, don’t hesitate to get in touch with KaSondra Wiederich at kwiederich@mvta.com.

Also attached is the presentations from the FRC and MTVA for reference.

Now, here are some great FISH Needs that were filled in May:

We are working with a family whose 16-year-old is going to be starting driver’s ed. He is really eager to start classes at his high school. The cost of the class has been a worry for his mother. She is not sure if he will be able to start driver’s ed this Thursday being they are living off her one income and paycheck to paycheck. For the classes, it is a total of $269. Anything helps thank you!

I am working with a mom and her two daughters that have experience many changes in the home due to fleeing a domestic violence situation. The family is safe and is working to get back into a routine at home.  The mother does not have a vehicle and does not have a way to get her children to swim lessons during the week. There are only few weeks left of lessons that she wants to ensure the children are able to attend. Any Uber or Lyft gift cards would be greatly appreciated. This mom has sacrificed so much to ensure her children are safe and cared for.

Recently an In-Home Supportive Services worker called the CAP Agency Chore Program for Seniors to request help with disposing of an old, flat mattress and box spring and requesting a new one for the senior living below the federal poverty guidelines of only $1003.  a month.  She is getting other community supports of Medical Assistance, SNAP, Energy Assistance through CAP and is trying very hard to remain independent in her apartment.  She is also requesting some pots and pans and a step stool.  The CAP Agency arranged and paid for her mattress and box spring removal but needs funding to buy her a new mattress and some household items.  Mattress is listed for $300.00, pots and pans approximately $50.00 and step stool, $25.00. Total requested is $375.00-$400.00.  Any amount is appreciated.  Thank you so very much!

A family of 5 is in desperate need of a washing machine.  Their washing machine broke down this past week and the cost of repairs would be more than the machine is worth.  Their children are young ages 6, 5, and 1, and a fourth baby is due soon.   Work is seasonal for the dad and can be difficult due to PTSD after being in the military.
