This parent has struggled with homelessness since May 2025 and recently is able to move out of Hope's Portage and into her own apartment!! She is so excited to be able to have stable housing and make a home for her two children. She is moving from Hope's Portage on Friday 10/23 and is able to complete that move on her own. However, she has a storage unit in Hopkins that she needs assistance with moving the items from Hopkins to Shakopee. Our hope is to find some volunteers who have vehicles that could move what's in her unit (including furniture) or assistance with a truck rental and some willing bodies to assist with the moving. I am currently on my road of recovery and working hard to rebuild my life. I’m living in ALLOS sober housing and actively participating in IOP, taking the steps necessary to create a healthier and more stable future for myself. At this point in my recovery, I’m not yet in a place where I can maintain employment due to transportation challenges and the commitments I have to my recovery. Unfortunately, I’m at risk of losing my storage unit if I’m unable to pay the balance by the end of the month. The total amount needed is $468. There are many things in that storage unit, but what matters most to me is being able to save the belongings that belong to my 9-year-old daughter. I’m currently unable to see her consistently, and these are some of the few things I have left from that part of my life. After my recent divorce and everything I’ve been through, losing these belongings would be incredibly painful. I’m not someone who normally asks for help. I’ve always preferred to figure things out on my own, but right now I recognize that asking for support is part of rebuilding my life. If you’re able to contribute any amount, even just a few dollars, it would mean more to me than I can put into words. | Help Now | Veteran in need of car repair – either cost or laborI have been working with a Veteran who has worked incredibly hard towards rebuilding his life after struggling for years with the symptoms from multiple traumatic brain injuries as well as mental health and substance use disorders. He has an opportunity to make further progress through a veterans employment program but his vehicle needed to drive to the location has needed many repairs lately has used up all of his financial resources and there is one final repair to be made to allow him to use it. The cost of a used CVT transfer case needed for his vehicle is $637.50 before tax but he believes he may have found an individual willing to donate one for his vehicle but he does not have the means to replace it himself. We are wondering if there is either an individual who has the ability/means to install the CVT transfer case free of charge? Or if not, there is anyone who feels able to offer towards the cost of the repair which is estimated to cost $1,260.00. For this Veteran to be at a place in his life again; free of substance use, involved in healthy relationships, managing multiple appointments in one day successfully and ready to start a job is truly one of those moments that make one sit back and remember how amazing life can be.
