Single Mother Facing Eviction

A hard-working single mother with two teen-age sons has fallen behind on her rent and is in urgent need of assistance. She works part-time hours in a cleaning business, but work has slowed down this winter. She and her sons are facing eviction if she doesn’t cover the outstanding balance by January 20th. She currently has an unpaid balance of $3000 (which includes last month's rent) and is seeking county assistance to help cover her rent payments. She would be grateful for any help that can be provided towards paying for food, gas, and rent while she goes through the application process for county/state rental assistance. Her needs include: grocery gift cards: $400. gas cards: $100. Any help towards the $3000 rent balance. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Veteran in Need of Assistance

Update: I am working with a 33-year-old veteran who is a responsible person that doesn't do drugs or drink. He was recently unemployed but now has a job opportunity that he is hoping will start before Christmas. He will just need some assistance to get him through the two weeks or so before he receives his first paycheck. He would be grateful for whatever assistance that could be provided--including Uber gift cards to help get back and forth to work (he doesn't currently have a vehicle). Any of the following would help cover short-term needs related to rent, food, and transportation expenses: $100 for Uber gift cards $200 for grocery gift cards $300 to help pay rent Thank you in advance for any help that can be provided.

Vehicle Transmission Replacement

*Update: A 34-year-old single mother of a 6-year-old daughter, who is also a foster parent to her 2-month-old nephew, is in urgent need of a replacement for her torque converter on her 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan. She is a responsible young mother who works full time Monday-Friday but lives paycheck to paycheck. She purchased the vehicle 4 years ago for $15000 and is heavily dependent on it to get to work and to pick-up her daughter and nephew from daycare. The mechanic shop she goes to issued her the following price quote for the repair: $1500 to replace the torque convertor. She has already depleted her savings to take care of other family expenses and doesn't have the resources for the repairs or to buy a different vehicle. She is open to receiving other offers or bids to repair her vehicle at a lower cost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Babies Need Heat!

A 21-year-old single mom with three children (ages 4, 18 months and 7 months) is trying her very best to make a good life for her and her little ones. She is finishing up her last few months of high school while also doing community college course work to be become a nurse assistant. She is a very soft-spoken caring mom who is concerned that her children are being transported back and forth from daycare in a cold car (2009 Dodge Journey). She would be very grateful if a kind soul would provide the needed funds to get her car’s heater running again. Thanks so much for anything you can do to help this young kind mom, and her little ones, to keep warm. For more information or to help, please contact Tony Magliano, pastoral care minister, St. Michael Catholic Church at tmagliano@stmichael-pl.org.
