As a new week begins, so do new challenges for many in our community. Today, we’re reaching out to our incredible FISH network to ask for your continued compassion and support. Each need that comes in represents a neighbor who is struggling—whether it’s a family facing eviction, a child without a bed, or someone starting over with nothing.
Your generosity truly changes lives. If you’re able, please consider donating toward one of this week’s most urgent needs. Together, we can bring hope and relief where it’s needed most.
A woman in Savage was a victim of a robbery. Her mailbox keys were stolen in the incident. She has replaced the key and the cost is $40. For privacy, please contact Jen (social worker making this request) to inquire about who to write the check out to. Check can be left at the front desk of Scott County Health and Human Services with the name Jen Peterson written on the outside of an envelope.

I am working with a young single mom who has an 18-month-old child and is expecting her second child in August. She is a full-time student; currently lives with her mother and sister and has no income. She has been having a hard time and money has been tight. She could really benefit from a double stroller for an infant and toddler, boy’s Summer clothes size 2T-3T; boy’s winter clothes size 3T; 0–3 months light clothing and larger winter sizes for baby boy, dresser(s) for toddler’s and baby’s clothes, diaper bag, newborn and larger size diapers; Avent baby bottles; age-appropriate toys for 18mth old boy. Wal-Mart and/or Target gift cards would also be greatly appreciated to help cover this and other miscellaneous needs. Your support would make a significant difference.

I am working with a young woman who is expecting a baby soon. She will be single parenting, and she has been having a hard time. She will be returning to school in the fall and doesn’t have extra funds to purchase some of the necessary supplies that will help her care for her baby. She could really benefit from an infant carrier car seat (must be brand new for safety reasons) and stroller (that works with the car seat), newborn and larger size diapers, 0-3 months and larger size clothing (for a baby girl), and a rocking chair. Any help towards this need would really help this individual and is greatly appreciated!

We have a mom who is facing transportation issues. Her car has broken down and she is struggling to bring her children to and from daycare and go to work. This is causing major stress, and she is turning to FISH to see if anyone is able to help. She doesn’t have any extra funds to go to her car because she works PT and goes to school FT and pays all the rent/utilities by herself.

A devoted father currently in outpatient treatment is preparing to graduate from the program. He is doing his best to stay connected with his children, but the distance between them has made weekend visits from Rochester challenging. Despite these difficulties, he remains committed to his recovery and to being a present, supportive parent. A gas card to local gas stations would greatly ease the burden of travel expenses, allowing him to focus more fully on both his healing journey and maintaining a strong relationship with his kids.
