Meet Kristen — a mom of three beautiful children who is part of a partner program we work closely with.
Kristen’s journey has been one of incredible strength and perseverance. From bravely leaving an abusive relationship to learning how to parent independently, she has worked tirelessly to create a safe and stable environment for her children for the first time in a very long time.
Over the past two years, Kristen has made tremendous progress in every area of her life. She has worked closely with CPS, consistently showing her dedication to building a healthy, loving home for her children. Through it all, this super mom has navigated bus routes and rideshares to get her children to appointments, school, and activities — from dance to chess. She recently shared that this has been the best school year her children have ever had.
Along the way, different needs have been posted through the various wraparound teams and organizations supporting Kristen and her family, all working together to help make everyday life more stable and manageable. From a portable car seat while navigating rides to appointments and activities, to organizational systems for the home, and support for activity fees so her children could continue participating in the things they love, each need filled helped move this family one step closer to long-term stability and success.
Kristen has worked hard to pay off past fines and is now able to regain her license and continue moving forward. Recently, a need was posted to help repair a vehicle for her family. Thanks to the generosity of our donors and network partners, we were able to help get the vehicle repaired, and Kristen was able to be surprised with it on Tuesday evening.
