I work with a single mother of two that had some unexpected expenses this month and got behind on rent. The father of the children was living in the home, and paying half of the rent. He moved out abruptly on 8/31 and left her having to pay the whole rent amount. The mother also had unexpected car repairs and reduced hours at work, so she is in need of $1400 to cover rent from last month and this month. Any amount would help her get caught up.  Beginning 10/1, mom will have a regular work schedule and a fixed rent amount based on her income, which is affordable to her.

I am working with a female client who has two brain injuries and is on a very limited income.    She is temporarily staying with a family member but is in need of housing for 55+ and having difficulties obtaining this due to her lack of reliable technology.   She has been using an outdated cell phone for the last month to search for and complete housing applications but the process is slow and many times fails before the completion of the application.  We are asking if there is anyone who has a laptop or tablet they would be willing to donate so that she can successfully search, apply for and obtain housing to meet her needs.

I am working with a father who is parenting his 5 children.  They recently returned to his care after being in foster care for six months.  Due to the recent financial changes of going from one household member to 6 household members, the father became financially strained and has applied for financial support to help with other bills.  However, he was unable to pay his cell phone bill due to prioritizing other financial responsibilities.  Any amount of financial assistance towards reducing this bill would be a huge help to him.

I am working with a family that has been struggling financially, especially due to COVID-19. Dad’s hours have been severely cut at his job, Mom is struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety, and they are barely making ends meet. Mom reports that they are in need of winter clothes for their baby (sizes 3-6 & 6-9 months), size 2 diapers, wipes, and an Aldi or Walmart gift card for other food and necessities.

I am working with a mother, father and a young child. Both parents are in treatment and the father just found a temporary job. The family is homeless and living with family. The mother really needs a phone and is hoping to have funds soon, but the parents work is uncertain. The family is working on getting new ID’s and just obtained insurance.  The mother is hoping for a $50-75 visa gift card to buy a trac phone from Walmart which should last 1-2 months.

First, I wanted to thank the network for the generous donations and offers toward this client last week to help get her heat turned back on.  My client is a single mother of three children who has been given 2-4 weeks to live.  Last week, with your help, we were able to get her heat turned back on so that her children could be home with her as much as possible.

My client does not have the means to be able to pay for in-home hospice, and her insurance at this time is covering only 2 hospice visits a week.  We have a hospice nurse who has volunteered to help the family for less than her usual wage, and we are asking for donations to help pay her.

I am working with a young mother who is parenting a one year old and a one month old.  Her one year old is constantly on the move and we are looking for a large play pen gate set up that will allow her to keep her son in an area that he can still move around and explore, while preventing him from getting into unsafe areas (behind the tv, bathrooms, kitchen).  She is hoping to be able to utilize the large gated area while she feeds her one month old.

This request is for a mother of two children. She is a survivor of domestic violence and is graduating from inpatient treatment soon. While she has been in treatment, her ex significant other broke into her storage unit and destroyed many of her household items. We are trying to help her get the missing items so that she can get back on her feet and not have to worry about this when she arrives back home.  She also needs a low-cost car.

Volunteer’s mother has bone cancer. One tumor was removed and a second larger one will be removed with surgery scheduled on Monday 9-21-2020. Money for gas and food to to make the fifteen hour drive and return trip to Arkansas and back to Lakeville.  He has been communicating with a church local to his mother and they are looking for a family to host his stay.   If that does not happen it would be nice to have finances for a motel. I only listed here for gas and food.

I have a housing client that has been out of work since March. He was let go from his part-time position due to COVID-19. He has some physical impairments and his mental health is deteriorating. He is at risk of losing his housing due to the condition of his apartment. He is asking for the following: 4-5 large storage containers, dishwasher cleaning tablets, dish soap, pine sol, kitchen cleaner, toilet bowl cleaner, bathroom cleaner, mop bucket, mop, broom, air freshener, shower curtain, shower liner, paper towels or shop rags, large black garbage bags and kitchen size garbage bags, quarters for laundry ($2.75 per load at his apartment complex-he has several loads to complete), $14 for a prescription (needs to be filled on Monday). He has 3 months to get his apartment cleaned and in good condition or he may face eviction. I am also looking for volunteers willing to come and help get his apartment cleaned. **This is a big job. Client also needs someone that has compassion if they are willing to help as he is having a hard time accepting that his place is dirty and doesn’t want to willingly get rid of anything.

This might be the most challenging needs for a family to navigate: affordable and reliable transportation. A single mom and 4 young children are experiencing  homelessness.  Her car has been deemed unsafe to drive and was recently towed to a lot. It is determined that the cost to get it from the lot is not worth the safety risk the car poses when being driven. The reality is having transportation will help her maintain employment, find stable housing,  have the ability to navigate her children’s appointments, schools, and schedules with more ease.

A client of mine, who is a single parent, just exited out of homelessness into her own apartment.  She was doing great!  She was hired for a job and was to begin working next week, but she was involved in a car accident.  She only received cuts and bruises, but the car rolled a couple of times and is totaled.  We are hoping to find her a vehicle ASAP to get her back to starting her new job.  We are hoping someone has a used vehicle they would consider donating to her.  She does not have much money in savings and would like to keep it there as it is the first time she has had a savings account.  Any resources as to where we could also look for a car for her would also be appreciated!  She has insurance.

A man who lost his job through COVID and is having troubles getting back on his feet from a recent divorce, finds himself struggling to pay his rent for himself and his children.  He is very grateful for any donation towards his rent dues.  Currently he owes $2,700, but even the smallest amount you can offer will help in this large debt.

We have a client that receives in-home support services through our company who will be moving from Shakopee to Savage on 11/01/2020. She is able to pay the costs related to the move (damage deposit, rent, etc), however, is limited on her resources to move her belongings to her new home and needs mover’s assistance. She has researched different moving company’s and was quoted $1,100 from Two Men and a Truck.  She does not have the necessary funds to pay for one of these moving services and does not have the support needed to move everything on her own.

Mom is a single parent of 3 children. Her baby has outgrown an infant car seat and she would highly benefit from a carseat style that can grow with her baby through toddler and booster seat years so mom does not need to find another car seat in the future.  This will allow for the safe transportation of her child in the car.

A mother is in need of a infant car seat and stroller for her 6 week old son.  She has the convertible car seat, but it is difficult to take in and out of cars as she depends on others for rides.  She also needs to take her 7 year old daughter out to the bus stop and a stroller/car seat would make it easier for her to protect her son from the colder weather.    This mother was unable to work during the majority of her pregnancy due to concerns around contracting COVID and is planning to return to work soon.  Currently, all of her bills go toward basic needs.   Either a brand new car seat and stroller combo (due to safety around car seat) or a gift card from Wal-mart or Target of  $175-$225 to purchase one would be greatly appreciated.

I am working with a single father of three children, all teenagers. This father’s hours were significantly cut due to COVID-19. They have not been able to make their mortgage payments and are working with their lender to prevent foreclosure. Dad states that they are struggling to pay for groceries and stay on top of bills. I am requesting a Walmart giftcard to pay for groceries, toiletries, and other necessities. Any amount is helpful– ideally we could get them around $200.

I work with a single mother who just recently got all caught up on rent and bills, and then her car engine blew up. The engine itself is covered under warranty, but she needs to pay for the labor. Baby boy clothes size 3 months/ 3-6 months (onesies, sleepers); basic baby items (2 pack-n-play sheets, 1-2 sleep sacks, blanket for floor time,  burp cloths, winter cover/blanket for car seat, changing pad, baby bath);  diapers (size 1).  These older parents overcame early adversity and were doing great until about 5 years ago.  Father was injured causing a job change with decreased income and benefits, then their elementary aged child developed special health care needs causing mother to have to leave her job.  As their child stabilized and mother could return to work, an elderly grandparent with dementia needed care and this family took them in as no other family members were able to help.   This year they very unexpectedly found out they were pregnant; baby is due soon.  This family has been getting by, but needs a little help getting set up for this last baby.

A formerly homeless youth is getting his life back on track after becoming justice involved. This youth is fulfilling his probation requirements and is in need of transportation gift cards (either UBER or gas gift cards) to transport himself to and from drug testing (UA’s). Due to these UA’s being random, he always has to find a ride last minute or be at risk of violating his probation. This youth does not drive, and relies on friends and family to help transport him. Due to the financial strain and time commitment, he would like to be able to help his friends and family with gas money or use UBER. This youth is currently searching for work, but COVID and not having a license or car has created very limited job opportunities. This donation would greatly increase the likelihood of him being able to successfully complete his probation requirements.
