Front/Rear brakes and rotors, as well as a brake fluid flush.  Client just got a job in an attempt to work his way off of supplemental social security.  He is working with GUILD for supported employment and is excited about his new position in the community at a local business.  Client has been informed his vehicle isn’t safe to drive right now due to the need for brakes.  Client is just starting his job, and prior to this was on SSI so he has no money saved for these repairs.  There is funding for $500 already secured for this need.  Total estimate is:$1064, so $564 is still needed.

A Shakopee client who has recently separated from an abusive relationship needs help covering rent and bills for the month of July.  She has currently been missing work since she has been attending court to get an order of protection and a restraining order in place.  She has a 1 year old and is trying to have a safe healthy home for her and her 1 year old boy. Her rent is $1400, her bills are $1140 which include car payment, and utilities. Any kind of financial help would be helpful to get her through this time as she gets back on track at work and gets back on her feet.

I am working with a couple, and their four children.  Dad was diagnosed with cancer during last winter and lost his job.  Two of the four children have special needs, so Mom has been forced to stay home and work with the children and their school work due to the medical vulnerability of the dad.  They are trying to make ends meet, but have not been able to pay for their garbage pick up for months.  Any help towards paying for a dumpster that costs $575 for a couple of days would be greatly appreciated.

$175.00 for Normandale Bus Pass (good for the semester)  I am working with an 18 year old female who will be attending Normandale Community College in a few weeks. She wasn’t able to work this summer and spent what money she had saved on a new laptop for school. She will be attending most classes on campus and since she does not have her license yet, she will need to take the bus. She is responsible for getting to school each day, so any help towards a semester bus pass would be greatly appreciated! She is hoping to work part-time once settled in with classes, so should be able to afford the bus pass for second semester.

I have a family with a single mother and her two children who are being kicked/forced out of their home and they need financial help in securing a new place in Jordan that has been located.  The family needs a minimum of $300.00 to secure the townhome and a grand total of $1454.00 for first month’s rent (deposit).  This has been a very difficult few weeks for this family after learning they would not have their lease renewed.  The mother works two jobs to make ends meet but has limited time to work extra hours due to both children having disabilities.

A family with a young child and a newborn are in need of a baby wearing wrap (Moby wrap or similar). The family will utilize the wrap to carry and comfort the newborn primarily while offering some freedom to care for the older child. A gift card that would allow this mom to purchase the wrap is an alternative option.

My client has recently secured housing in Shakopee after a long period of homelessness.  He suffers from mental health issues that are exacerbated by instability and lack of secure housing.  He is presently stable and it would be great if we could keep him on that track.  He has applied for jobs and has multiple appointments he needs to get to.  Unfortunately, his previous bike was stolen while he was homeless.  He would like a bike to travel to and from work and various appointments.  He is unable to accept his current job offer unless he has transportation to get there.

Mom is able to pay for 1st month’s rent but is needing assistance with the $1500 deposit. This would allow mom to have a fresh start for her and her two children. Any help would be huge step for this mom.
This mom has been through a lot of challenges and is working hard with the Agency to get her life back on track.

Financial help for daycare funds.  I am working with a woman who is caring for her ex-boyfriend’s son.  The agreement was that he would pay for daycare expenses while she cared for him as the child receives SS income that she is not currently getting.  He has not been paying and there is a back amount due of 850.  The Dad is unable to care for him due to chemical use and this woman has paid 3000 for a lawyer to obtain custody and does not have money for the back daycare amount and is worried if she doesn’t have care, will not be able to continue to work.
She will not continue to need help because when she obtains custody (which Dad is agreeable to), she will receive the SS income for future daycare expenses.

Two families are looking for help obtaining a graphing calculator for their child for this school year.  The school has asked for a TI-84 Plus.  Both are willing to accept a used one in good condition and CAP is willing to accept donations towards the purchase of new ones.  With the cost of living and the limited budgets they are on, this is a purchase they cannot afford right now.  The students report there has been no other resource offered at the school.

I have a family who had a terminally ill family member living with them for their last months of life.  The equipment that was required to assist this person into end of life caused energy costs in the home to skyrocket and the family cannot afford to pay the bill and the energy company is demanding payment.  This family is also going through two criminal court trials for someone who caused severe physical harm to the person that was terminally ill causing extreme emotional distress.
