Used safe vehicle  for $1000 or under.  Single mother of 2 school aged children with a  limited income and her van was totaled in an accident recently.  The vehicle only had liability insurance and so there is no coverage to replace the van.   She is able to borrow up to $1000 from a family member to purchase another vehicle.  My client wants something that will be safe and reliable for her and her children.   If anyone has a used vehicle they are looking to sell or know of someone,  we would follow any community leads.

I have a young, single, adult male that has recently been housed in Savage, MN in a multi-unit building.  He is in need of a pair of quality, wireless headphones.  Client uses music as a method of therapy.  He creates his own music to help him feel calm, grounded, and able to go about his day.  He has had some complaints about noise at his building.  The landlord has reached out to me to try and remedy this situation.  This client was extremely hard to house and if he has his lease terminated due to these noise violations, he will end up homeless again.  Client has serious mental health issues and creating music helps to stabilize these issues.  In addition, I am asking for painting supplies for my client.  He has been given permission to paint a small part of his kitchen.  He will need painters tape, different sized paint brushes (he will be creating a mural), and a gift card to purchase the paint colors that he needs from Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc.

I am currently working with a single mother of four children who is voluntarily moving from her home to avoid eviction.  She unexpectedly lost the primary income in her home (she is currently relying on her own  secondary income, which has also diminished due to COVID)  and has been unable to maintain and keep up with rent.  She would like to downsize to a smaller home to better manage her smaller income.  We are requesting donations toward security deposit and first month’s rent to make the move easier on herself and the children.

I am working with a single father who recently ended his relationship with his partner and is struggling financially right now to cover the cost of childcare for his 10 year old son to participate in distant learning at the YMCA while he is at work.  He previously had help with this in the home, but now is the only adult and cannot stay home from work to help his son with distant learning.  This father would appreciate any type of help – assistance paying for childcare or gas cards or grocery gift cards to help make ends meet until his son goes back to in person learning.

I am working with a young man who is just exiting homelessness. He is approved for an apartment and has recently started a new job, so he doesn’t have many paychecks under his belt. He has been staying in a hotel program and was using the hotel Wi-Fi to call/text. His new apartment won’t have internet and he does not currently have a phone plan. I am asking for a donation of $35 to help pay for one month of phone service until he can get more settled and stabilized, then he will be able to pay it on his own. He needs a phone so he can stay in contact with me (Housing Case Manager), his employer, and the other agencies he works with.

I am working with a single mom and her children who are struggling financially right now due to COVID.  Mom can get back to work this week after being out due to the pandemic (this is the second time she has been out of work due to the pandemic) but will have less hours than normal.  She was able to manage well financially on her own pre-pandemic and did okay between the shutdowns, but never got back up to her typical income as her income relies heavily on tips.  She has received unemployment funds while out of work, but this has only provided her with about ½ of the income she is used to which has led to her getting behind in bills, the most pressing are rent and car payment.

$342.00 for driver’s education classes and behind the wheel sessions.  I am working with a 15 year old male who will be 16 in March. He’s been wanting to do driver’s education classes and obtain his permit, but the family is on a very tight budget and cannot afford the full price of classes and behind the wheel sessions. Kiddo hopes to be able to earn his permit and then get his driver’s license as this would allow him to work on weekends and during the summer, without relying on others to transport him. Kiddo has been doing distance learning this school year and this would be a good opportunity for him to connect with peers as well.

I am working with a family (husband, wife and young child) who are facing a terminal cancer diagnosis, and has been dealing with the challenges of this for years now.  Due to his health condition, the husband is no longer able to work.  His wife is able to work, but has not been able to successfully hold down a full time job recently due to the extensive cares needs and appointments that her husband has, and additionally with her husband not often being well enough to care for their son.  They have not been able to pay their electric bill in months and need support with this.

I am currently working with a man with a Traumatic Brain Injury with that was sent to the ER by his dentist (when dentists were unavailable to see patients) during COVID for a tooth infection.  The client has now learned that his insurance will not cover any of this visit and he has been billed directly for $330.   Because he has not been able to pay it make payments on it, they have now started to turn it over to the collections process.  Any assistance with this matter is helpful.

Mom and dad of a 9 year old are very good at co-parenting but they live an hour apart from each other. Mom now has the opportunity to move closer to her son’s father and her son, which means she will get more time with her son as well. Unfortunately mom is downsizing from a large three bedroom to a one bedroom apartment. There is a need for a large-roll off to get rid of the stuff she cannot take with her. She has already donated everything she can.

Looking for assistance for a single mom who recently lost her fiancé.  She has three kids, ages  15, 11 and 4. She has been living with her fiancé’s family and renting from them. She has worked the whole time and is very reliable. She is all caught up on rent so that is good. They are looking for at least a three bedroom in or near New Prague so that the kids do not have to change schools. Right now she is paying $830 for rent but can afford up to $1600. Her car also recently broke down so she is in need of a reliable vehicle. Looking for leads on housing,  a reliable car or money toward the purchase of a car or supplies so they move into a new home and start a life together on their own.

A family of 6 (two parents and 4 young children) had the heater go out in their rental unit.  The pipes froze and burst resulting in the building being temporarily condemned until repairs can be made.  They are current with rent and have income via employment.  They are seeking help to pay for temporary stay at hotel and/or assistance in locating a 3 bedroom apartment to rent in the Belle Plaine area for $1000-1300 per month.

Their hotel voucher ended today and they are on the wait list for shelter, but there are not currently any openings.
