On behalf of Together WE CAN, I would like to invite you to join us for virtual community discussions at our third and fourth Community Advisory Committee events, “Healing Happens Through Relationships”, on Tuesday, December 1st and 8th, 2020, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. (CDT). This meeting is open to parents, individuals, and organizations across Scott County and our cross-county partners who support children and families in our community. Below are some additional details about the events.

 

About the Event:

Date/Time: Tuesday, December 1st and 8th, 2020, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. (CDT)

Ø  Participants are encouraged to share a meal with their family. Grocery gift cards and recipe cards from Cooking Matters Minnesota will be mailed out following each event.

 

Location: This event is being held virtually due to COVID-19 physical distancing recommendations.

Ø  We will meet together virtually over Zoom. A link will be provided following registration.

 

Presenters:

Ø  Lisa Welter, Founder of Katallasso Group, will introduce the practice of Restorative Circles: a community process

for supporting those in conflict and during times of celebration.

 

About the Event:

Participants will use the Circles model in small group conversations about 5 Protective Factors that can help build relationships and strengthen families in our communities:

 

1.       Parental Resiliency – Managing stress and functioning well when faced with challenges, adversity and trauma.

 

2.       Social Connections – Positive relationships that provide emotional, informational, instrumental and spiritual support.

 

3.       Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development – Understanding child development and parenting strategies that support physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development.

 

4.       Concrete Support in Times of Need – Access to concrete support and services that address a family’s needs and help minimize stress caused by challenges.

 

5.       Social and Emotional Competence of Children – Family and child interactions that help children develop the ability to communicate clearly, recognize and regulate their emotions and establish and maintain relationships.
