SVABW Needs YOUR Help During this Time

Amidst the COVID-19 virus outbreak, Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women will continue to provide vital crisis programs for victims of domestic violence in Scott and Carver Counties. Our crisis line is open 24/7 and advocates are available to help by calling 952-873-4214.  Things we can help with over the phone are: safety planning, emotional support, Order for Protection information and community resource updates.  Online support groups will start in April.

Research suggests that incidences of domestic violence rise after natural disasters, which is likely because abusers have increased access to their families, the victim is more isolated, and perpetrators can get away with abuse more easily as government, healthcare and support systems break down.

We do expect that as people are encouraged to self-isolate in their homes, our services will be needed more than ever.  If you are in immediate danger, please call 911.  If you are able to give back, consider helping in some of these ways:

  • Become a Crisis Line Volunteer!  This vital service can be done from the comfort of your own home.  An online training is required; if you are interested in this opportunity, please email Twyla at Twyla.O@svabw.org
  • Donate!  Now more than ever, we need your support to continue providing services to those in need.  Easy online donation HERE.
  • Support us by purchases from our Amazon Wish List.  All items purchased are shipped directly to our office and go to support our client programs.  Find our Amazon Wish List HERE.
  • Share our social media posts!  The more people that know about our services, the better!  Make sure to Like our Facebook page HERE.
