I am reaching out to see if anyone has a used (or new?) Xbox or gaming system. The family I am working with has a 12 year old that is struggling with ongoing behaviors and is continually disrupting the family system. Mom is a single parent of four kids and has limited financial resources. Mom has informal respite support but kiddo doesn’t want to go and reports there is a lack of things to do there. We are hoping if he has a gaming system of sorts he will be more motivated to go.

When getting an oil change, techs told the family their 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan needed a new battery to make it through the winter. Could also use a new water pump as this one will give out any day now.

I am working with a client who is working on finding a second job so that he is able to pay rent, as well as buy food and other basic needs for himself. He is in a tough spot currently but is still trying to make the best of his situation and be responsible. Gift cards to Walmart would be greatly appreciated for this client, so that he can buy food and clothes.

I am working with a family that has come by some very hard times, there has been chronic domestic violence in the home, and the abuser is no longer in the home. However, the family is struggling financially and is working to get back into a normal routine at home while adjusting to the new family dynamics. Unfortunately, the family’s only vehicle had the brakes completely stop working. The vehicle is currently not safe for the family to drive due to the brakes not working. The family has found a local automotive shop that is willing to complete the repairs if the family can provide the finances to have it fixed. The family has many appointments for therapy and medical appointments that are crucial for the family to get to.

I have a young man with Autism, Bi-polar disorder and mild cognitive delays that is in need of assistance. He is currently in a crisis home in Hermantown MN but is one of our clients. He has been charged with a Felony and is currently awaiting a trial date. AS a result he has no access to RSDI funding. He also has limited family involvement and no means of earning money while he is in crisis. I have received a bill from the pharmacy in Hermantown where his current medications are filled. The bill is for $24.50 and is for past due co-pays for his prescriptions. They are threatening to not fill his meds because of the past due amount

I am working with a mother regarding drug exposure and environmentally hazardous conditions. The father has temporary full custody of the child while the mother works her case plan. This father is continuing to drive his child to a school that is 30 minutes away to keep some familiar faces and structure for his child. This father has stepped up in a big way for his son; but he is struggling. He drives 2 hours each day to get his child to and from school daily. Recently they were involved in a car accident on the way to school due to slippery road conditions. This father’s car is in a mechanics shop and it will cost $1880 to get the car out. The father has been sharing a car with family when he can. The father is missing work each night to leave and pick up his son from school, which reduces his hours and pay. He is able to come up with $600 right now. Any help would be appreciated as this father is doing his best, but these are tough times!

Teen male is in need of an electric toothbrush to improve his dental hygiene. It would be helpful to have a toothbrush that can be recharged versus one that works on batteries due to the family’s financial status. Family has limited income and they currently do not have the financial resources to spend on an electric toothbrush. The family has been saving up money to purchase one, however, it will be several months before they will have enough money.

A family with a 7 month old who has just started to crawl cannot afford to purchase a baby gate as their income only meets basic needs. Due to the specific needs/measurements of the stairs in their home, they have been unable to find a used/donated and there is one available on Amazon for $89.99 that would meet their specific needs. Additionally, household members are concerned about not knowing infant CPR/First Aid, especially now that the 7 month is starting to eat solids. The American Heart Association has an Infant CPR Anytime Kit for $38.50 that would allow all family members to learn the needed skills and help them feel more confident.

My client recently got out of a toxic relationship with her ex partner and has been working hard to be stable and accountable on her own. She has been looking for work but is limited as there is not many places near her within walking distance. She is a very hard worker when she has work, so having her license back would be a great asset for her. Because she does not have her license, she can not look for a car and because she does not have a car she is unable to travel far to find a reliable job and with no job, she has no source of income to help pay off this fine to get her license. With help in raising these funds she could have a lot of stressed relieved and be able to widen her job search. She is appreciative of any help she may receive.

I have an urgent need for a few items to help a client transition into her own place. She is going to be living in a studio and needs a small loveseat or a couple side chairs for her “living room” area and we are looking for a couple sturdy TV trays to use as a place to eat as there is not enough room for a kitchen table. Client could also use some neutral colored throw blankets and matching bedding to spruce up her new home and perhaps a small nightstand and lamp. She is moving in on Friday January 15th and I would love to have these items by then so that she can have that sense of pride in her new place with there being something in there she can be happy about.
