I am working with a family who is homeless and currently living in a hotel.  The family, who has a young child, has fallen behind on their car payment and risk losing their jobs if they lose their sole mode of transportation.   We are requesting help to get them caught up on their payment while also working on long-term options to ensure they are able to pay for their car each month.  The family is working with a local organization to obtain housing.

I work with a young adult that lives in foster care for individuals with developmental disabilities.  His funds are very limited but he needs new clothes/shoes for interviews and employment.  Please consider donating gift cards to local stores (Kohl’s, Target, Walmart, etc.,) so he can purchase clothing and shoes that fit him well and comfortably.  Once he is working, he will earn money to support his needs with any future clothing needs.

I have a great family who is down on their luck.  The main income is SSDI thus leaving finances very tight for this family of 6- 4 being children.  The issue here is there is only one parent who can drive and he has an outstanding legal fee of 190 that must be paid to reinstate his license.  They have undertaken a part time income but this just barely helps meet rent.

I currently work with a youth in mental health services and who’s mental health interferes with his school attendance.  The school has been working closely with this youth and has seen a dramatic increase in attendance and work completion with allowing him to sketch and draw during class.  This youth would benefit from additional art supplies including a hard bound sketch book, watercolor colored pencils and a water pen.  These items will assist with his focus during class as well as offer coping skills during increased time of anxiety.

The Allos house in Shakopee will be opening soon and is in need of furniture.  The most needed items right now are beds and dressers to fill 5 bedrooms.  Allos Ministries invests in people the world may cast off as unworthy.  We believe that each of us has been uniquely made with a God-given purpose, we take the time to help people figure out what that purpose is.

We will live together and work together with those who need a fresh start after a life of addiction.  We will guide them and equip them to live freely.  We will teach them what it means to have life after addiction.

An elderly woman living in Shakopee was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She works at McDonald’s and lives alone (her spouse left her). She is scheduled for surgery on May 13th. The doctors recommended time off after surgery and to rest while going through radiation. With the medical costs associated with surgery and radiation, she is in need of a couple months of rental assistance. Rent is $595 so she needs about $1200 to cover expenses. She hopes to return to work in July and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two clients that are finally moving out of homelessness and into their own place.  I have all furnishings lined up for them except for beds.  I am looking for 2 queen beds, box springs, and frames due to the clients’ sizes and medical needs.  The beds need to be supportive and not on their last legs.  The bedrooms are not large, so the clients and I are only looking for the mattresses, box springs, and bed frames, please no head or foot boards at this time.  They would also appreciate the zip-up mattress covers as they are moving into an apartment building and want to make sure things are protected from bed bugs and the like.

I have a disabled client who is severely in need of vehicle repairs.  This is his only method of transportation and it is presently failing.  My client is on a very tight budget without any income at present due to a severe mental illness.

I have a family of five fighting tooth and nail to survive while the only income source deals with a severe mental illness.  There is a new baby in the house that requires 24/7 care which the mother is providing.  If anyone is able to help with the cost of rising fuel costs for this family it would be greatly appreciated.

Money for utilities is needed for single mom with 3 children.  Mom had to switch jobs in order to be home after school for her disabled son that has been troubled recently.  The new job doesn’t pay as well as the previous one and she has fallen behind on the gas and electric bills.  She is facing possible disconnection of gas and electric is the bills are not paid.  This family has had a history of housing instability.  Mom continues to work, but is not making enough to support their family of 4 in the types of jobs she is able to get.  She is applying for SSI disability for her son, but this will take some time to come thru.

I’m helping a homeless client who is currently in our shelter program.  He has a car that needs repair and is looking for help to make his car more safe to drive as he is now working and needs his vehicle to continue employment. Client also needs his car to do a housing search for he has been offered a housing voucher.  My client has taken his car to an auto shop in Shakopee and their diagnostic is: “Needs right lower control arm ball-joint out; not safe to drive.” Total cost for parts and labor come out to $559.00.  Client has been homeless for over a year, living out of his car, trying to find employment and struggling with housing barriers.  Client is finally getting to a place where progress is finally happening and his car has taken a toll from his struggles.

This mom is continuing to struggle with making rent.  Due to family health problems, she had to take unexpected time off, which made her paychecks lower than normal.  She is working really hard to maintain a home for her kids but is struggling despite her incredible work ethic.  Any support would be incredible for this mom.  I am working with a single mom who has three, young, high needs kids, including a child who has a traumatic brain injury.  Despite many personal struggles and the extra effort, time, and money to meet the needs of her kids, this mom has maintained a job and has found ways to provide for her family.  However, her rent is increasing, and she has no idea how she is going to make rent.  Her rent is $1500, but any amount of money would be incredibly helpful for this mom and her family.

There is a single mom who has three kids.  She has a job, but despite that, it is still difficult for her to make ends meet.  This mom encourages her kids to play sports to find hobbies and socialize healthily.  She drives to work, drives her kids to their school, and to their activities.  She is hoping that some gas giftcards could be donated, so that she can continue to get to work and meet her kids’ needs.  Anything would be appreciated for this family!

Mom of three is seeking assistance to pay for a few storage units she has her household items in. She was recently given a lease non-renewal notice without explanation, and has had a very hard time finding a new affordable apartment to rent due to the rising costs of rent. Unfortunately, without having a place to go, she needs to store her, and her children’s things. She is asking for a few months assistance in paying for these storage rentals as her first month of free storage is almost up. Without this assistance she will lose all of her, and her children’s things forcing them to find alternatives when and if they are able to find a new apartment.
