Over the past couple of months, The CAP Agency has had several families come to our agency in great need to flee domestic violence.   We have helped where we can to support these families, however we recognize that the critical piece for families is a place to stay while they make a plan for the next step toward safety and stability.  We are asking the community to help The CAP Agency fund two rooms (weekly rate of $350) for a period of up to two months, if needed.  This time frame may expand if the need arises.  Any help is appreciated!

I am working with a family of four.  Mom and dad both work, but their financial situation is really tight.  They need help with summer clothing for their little girls (6-9 month and 6T summer clothes). Any help towards this need would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you for your consideration.

Our clients come to us in a desperate situation.  Transitioning from living on the streets, in their car or in a shelter, they have little to no belongings.  Our supportive housing program offers them case management to help work them towards self-sufficiency.  Each client sets goals on a quarterly basis and we work together with them to help them achieve those goals and more. Two of our clients are moving into their new homes for the first time in years after being homeless.  They are in need of all household items including but not limited to: beds (full size preferred but open to other sizes), bedding, pillows, dresser, living room furniture, end tables, lamps, kitchen table and chairs, silverware, cooking utensils, pots and pans, garbage cans (kitchen and bathroom), food storage containers, dishes, coffee mugs, coffee maker, hand towels, wash cloths, shower curtain/liner/hooks, bath towels, plunger, toilet bowl brush, household cleaners, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.   NOTE:   **These are two separate clients moving into two separate locations so we need double of everything on the list.

I am working with a family of three, mom and her two kids.  Mom and the two kids just moved due to a domestic violence situation.  Mom now has control over her finances which has not been the case for years.  Due to moving costs, help towards her rent for May or a past due childcare bill (that she was not aware was not being paid) would be really helpful to her for getting on track.  She does work full-time and even though it will be tough she can meet their needs moving forward.  Any amount of money towards either of these needs would be greatly appreciated by her.  It is not an easy thing for her to ask for help and she is working hard on this.  Thank you in advance for your consideration.

I am working with a mother who will be entering residential treatment with her two young children on May 19th.  This mother has been waiting for a few weeks to enter treatment and her children have been in foster care during this time.  She will be reunited with her children once they go to treatment together and is in need of hygiene products and misc items for herself and her boys that fit treatment guidelines.  I am hoping she can get a gift card to get these necessary items before she enters treatment for herself and her kiddos.

I am working with a family who has been homeless for over a year.  They are currently housed.  The mother is unemployed due to health issues, so her income is not regular or reliable.  She has a child who will be going to the high school this Fall, and is in need of clothing for attending school.  The child prefers clothing at Walmart because she is able to find clothing that fits her there.  She has very limited clothing at this time.

The Licensed Family Child Care Providers of Scott County are working extremely hard to stay open in order to provide care for the children of Scott County, especially those of essential workers. In order to remain open, it is vital that they have cleaning and sanitizing items.  Child Care Providers are open long hours (10-12 hours per day) in order to accommodate the needs of their essential worker clients. As such, they are unable to get to stores early in the day when their needed supplies are most likely to be available. Would you consider helping them out? Every cleaning product is so deeply appreciated and needed.

Single mom of 2 in Shakopee recently obtained housing and has a Bridging referral for furniture, but cannot afford the $180 delivery fee.  Hoping someone would be able to help her out with this fee so she can furnish her apartment.  When the referral was initially made she had the money, but due to COVID-19 the appointment was cancelled and she has since had to use the money. The mom was holding off scheduling the apt because she does not have money for delivery. Any immediate assistance for this family would be greatly appreciated.

Scott County Adult Protection is currently working with a vulnerable adult who was the victim of substantial financial exploitation and emotional abuse, and as a result was moved to ensure her future safety.  She is now in a position where she is able to move into an apartment of her own, but is essentially starting her life over.  She has some clothing, a TV, and some furniture that was graciously donated to her by the previous tenant to her apartment to start out, but she is still in need of other basic household items to help make the transition a little smoother.

I am working with a young man, 18 years old, with serious mental health struggles.  We have discussed ways to for him to get out of his home and enjoy nature and be outdoors more.  When we discussed his interests,  he  remembered that he has loved to go fishing, but his rod was broken and in disrepair.  Therefore, this request is for help from anyone that has a rod and reel in good working condition that could be donated to this young man so he can get outside and enjoy going fishing this summer.  The young man is currently unemployed.  He does live at home, but his family is experiencing some financial difficulties, and is not in the mental health state to find employment now (plus there are not a lot of jobs available now).  No deadline is given – but the sooner the more time this young man will have the opportunity to go fishing.

I am hoping someone would be wiling to send a father, who is homeless living with family, a package of some organization supplies. He is hoping for a paper planner, folders, pens, explore housing and notes books. This father is working with a parent mentor on parenting skills and also working on getting into outpatient treatment, therapy, visits with his children,  work on completing his GED and finding a job. He is so overwhelmed as he is just making lists and we think having some organization things for himself to plan would be best!

A 13 year old female is looking for some art supplies to help keep her busy, especially once school is done. She has some markers, crayons, and colored pencils already. She would like some oil pastels, a sketch book, a knitting kit to make hats or scarves, and/or a tie-dye kit. Any of these would be appreciated. She has looked online at Amazon and Michaels. A gift card would also be an option for her to then purchase these items.
