Passageways Shelter and Housing Program provides emergency shelter beds for youth ages 13 to 17 and housing for youth ages 16 to 24 who have been victims of sex trafficking.  I am wondering if there is anyone out there who could help up to 4 housing residents get their taxes completed at no cost?  Some of the youth have very easy tax situations and some are fairly complicated.  (At least for this case manager to handle on my own).  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated or even referrals.

I am working with a single mother who is in need of assistance in paying rent.  She has a portion of it paid, but she still needs $750.00.  This mother started a new job a few weeks ago, but just broke her foot last week and will not be able to work for a while.

I am working with a single mother of three young children who has a history of domestic violence and has been working extremely hard to get on track and move forward with safe and healthy relationships.  She is currently struggling to make ends meet with transporting her three children to their various appointments, classes, pre-school, etc. and she could benefit from a little extra financial support right now.

Young child with medical and mental health problems was able to start at a private school this year. This has been a huge turn around for him and he is now doing well in school and wanting to go to school. The family owes $680, but is unable to pay this because of a recent fraud incident where they lost everything. Mom is trying to get her money back, but hasn’t been able to. Mom is worried that her child won’t be able to keep going to school there if she doesn’t make a payment soon.

Disabled Vet living on very limited income is asking for a toaster oven and/or air fryer.  He is currently trying to lose weight so that he can be put on a transplant list for a kidney.  He has been learning how to cook healthier and would love to try out an air fryer.  He currently has a toaster oven but it is time for a different one as this one is not working properly.  Client is working with a housing case manager to help budget his small income.  He hopes to try to work at least part time once he receives a kidney and no longer needs to go to dialysis.

Single mom of 4 children is looking for bicycles for herself and her two younger boys.  Boys are 16 and 13.  Looking for bikes that are in gently used/new condition as the mom does not have the funds to repair these bikes.  Mom is hoping to use the bikes as a way for the whole family to go out and do things together.  This will be their only form of transportation. The boys are average teenage sized boys.  Mom is average height as well.  Mom is working with a financial worker to help make ends meet.  She manages the small amount of money that she receives monthly quite well but does not have leftover funds for any “extras” for her or her children.  She is currently unable to work due to her mental health.  She is attending a day program to help with social/emotional skills in hopes to overcome her fears/doubts about herself.

A nine year old youth in the community really enjoys art. The youth would like a kids easel and a Michael’s gift card to purchase art supplies like paint, brushes and a canvas.  This youth would be appreciative of any help for his new hobby!
