I am working with a single mother who has been battling with her mental health for years.  She has some support services in place and is currently working on connecting to more supports as well.  She is on a fixed income and uses all her income on bills or her child.  Due to this, she has not purchased new clothing for herself in years.  She is open to new or used clothing, however, would prefer gift cards to purchase a few new undergarments as she has not had new in years and isn’t sure about sizing.  She is also hopeful to find her own transportation at some point, but until then would really like a bike.  She said a bike would provide her with some independence, allow her to exercise which she said would have a positive impact on her mental health, and allow her and her child to do fun activities together.

I have been working with a single mom for the last 6 months.  She has worked hard to achieve and maintain sobriety and has been sober now for 150 days.  She recently secured employment and will start next week.  She and her child went to a church service  last weekend and came out to find that 2 of her car tires had been slashed.   Since she has not started her employment, she is unable to pay for the cost of replacing the 2 tires and needs the vehicle to get to and from her new job.  Any help towards the cost of replacing the 2 tires would be greatly appreciated!

Family of 4 in need of a washer/dryer.  Family just welcomed their 2nd child on Dec 28th, 2020 and have a 2-1/2 year old daughter.   Family was homeless for a brief moment while moving from one apartment complex to another.  Much money was spent for that transition. They moved into the new apartment in South St. Paul mid -December and even though both parents were working, the mother had to take off of work early due to pregnancy complications.  Income has been reduced due to only one parent working and bills piling up.  Clients are hoping to find a used washer and dryer to help save costs for trips to get laundry done with their newly expanded family.

I am working with a family of three.  Dad works full-time, but their budget is still very tight month to month.  The younger child is growing very quickly and isn’t fitting into many clothing items anymore.  Because of this the same clothes are being worn to school for weeks in a row.  Since the child is growing so quickly, dad isn’t exactly sure what sizes to get.  A gift card to Walmart would allow them to go shopping together to make sure the clothing fits properly.

I am working with a young mother of two children.  She has never had her own place and she was able to secure housing after living with relatives for almost a year.  She has successfully completed inpatient treatment and has worked hard to have her children returned to her care.  Because she is moving out on her own for the first time, she is in need of items to fill her apartment.  She currently has clothes for her and the children and one crib to bring with her but is in need of other things (such as kitchen supplies and furniture).

I am working with a formerly homeless single female who is just starting a new diversion program in Hennepin county for a charge from 2019. She resides in Scott county and is in need of transportation assistance to get to and from her random UA’s (drug testing). She is currently unemployed but receives a small amount of cash assistance through the county each month. Her budget is very tight, and she now faces legal action if she misses one of her UA’s. We are requesting UBER gift cards or bus cards (Metro Transit) to assist her with getting to these appointments.

I am working with a client and her phone is no longer working.  She has taken it to the Verizon store and they cannot help restore it for her.  In order to participate in services, including mental health appointments, check her email, open important attachments, and have consistent phone calls with important people (including her social worker, children, and family), she is in need of a working phone.  I am hoping someone has a used smart phone that is compatible with Verizon that they would be willing to donate so we can help her remove one barrier to accessing services and having regular contact with her children.

A student desk.  15 year old high school girl is doing her school work from her bed.    Sometimes she falls asleep in between classes and misses class.  She says it would be easier for her to stay awake if she had a desk, a separate space in which to do her schoolwork.

We are an in-home services provider and work with an individual that is trying to secure employment, however, she is in need of a vehicle to do so. She does not have the necessary income to afford purchasing a vehicle on her own. She also has many medical appointments to attend and a child that lives over an hour away that she needs reliable transportation to get to for visiting. She is hoping to find help with either purchasing a reliable used vehicle or possibly someone willing to donate one to her for this need.

I am working with two adults who are currently homeless and struggling. They have accessed the food shelves in the past but cannot always get to the location on time based on where they are staying. They are in the process of applying for food support but have not yet received this. Any gift card for food would be helpful to support them while they bridge the gap until food support can begin.

A 14 year old male moved to Prior Lake from up north the end of last summer. He had previously worked on a neighbor’s farm up north. He worked hard and really enjoyed this.  His parents are interested in getting him connected to a local farm in Scott County that is willing to have him help out this spring and summer as it was really good for him. The family does not know any local farms in the area and does not know where to start to look.

Low income Shakopee family was in need of $1300 for replacement of electrical panel in their mobile home due to a fire.  NOTE:  A donor provided the funds for the replacement of the electrical panel, and family has just returned to their mobile home. The fire also caused substantial damage to the family’s home, and much of their furniture was lost.  At this time, the family remains in need of living room furniture, and a dining table and chairs.  Donations toward the purchase of these items, or a donation of furniture that would fit into their mobile home would be greatly appreciated.

I am working with a mom with two children who has been in and out of work for the last several months. Mom has many minor repairs that are needed through out the home, that have caused some safety concerns. The primary door in the home does not have the ability to lock, some of the lights do not work (need new bulbs) and other small things throughout the home. Mom is working with the agency to address other areas of concern and would be able to keep making progress by updating these small projects in the home. A gift card to Menards would be most helpful.
