Dear Scott County Community Members,

Together WE CAN would like to acknowledge the immense stress and trauma we as a nation, especially our BIPOC communities, have continued to experience following the murder of George Floyd and throughout the trial of Derek Chauvin. Witnessing or even hearing about the several violent events in recent news can be traumatic for both children and grown-ups. In challenging moments, it is extra important to lean into your comforts, practice self-care, and connect with others. Our Monthly Community Circles conversation theme for April has changed in order to provide space for community building and to begin conversations that will lead to healing together.

Join us for this month’s Scott County Community Circle: Building Community & Healing Together

What Are Circles?

Scott County Community Circles provide a monthly space and opportunity to connect with others in our community; to learn from and support one another through the ups and downs in our lives. Using the sacred Indigenous communication practice of Restorative Circles, community members will be able to connect with one another on a personal level in a comfortable and supporting setting. Circles will be led by trained Circle Keepers and conversations will focus on themes related to community, family and building personal resilience.

Who Should Attend?

Community Circles are open to individuals, parents, families and organizations across Scott County, as well as our cross-county partners who support children and families in our community. These events will also include live interpretation in Spanish and Somali.
