Urgent help needed for local family with special needs children facing water shut-off
A local family in our community is in urgent need of support. They are loving parents to 4 children, 3 of whom have special needs, including one child with seizures, another with autism, and a third child battling a serious lung disease due to have surgery in October. These children are getting services through the county due to their disabilities, and their care requires constant attention, numerous medical appointments, and costly treatment. Over the past three years, the family's property taxes have increased by nearly $1000.00 a month, putting even more strain on their already tight budget. Nearly every dollar they earn goes towards housing costs, electricity, heating, gas for medical transportation, and overwhelming medical bills. The mother works full-time, and the father had to quit his job to care for the children and take them to the numerous medical appointments. When they purchased the home three years ago, they were both working full-time and could afford the house. The eldest and youngest had yet to develop their heinous diseases and the property taxes hadn't increased their monthly payment by a whopping 25%. Their expenses increased while their income decreased. Due to these ongoing challenges, their water bill has gone unpaid and is now scheduled to be shut on October 1st. They are reaching out to our community with a humble request for assistance to help cover this water bill -something most of us take for granted but is absolutely essential for this family's well-being. If you are able to help in any way - big or small - your generosity would mean the world to them. Every donation will go directly toward keeping water running in their home and providing their children with the safe, stable environment they desperately need. Their one-parent gross income makes them ineligible for most governmental programs, thus seeking alternative resources. Moving from their home may become a necessity but disrupting their surroundings will be difficult. After the youngest has lung surgery, this may become their only option. Thank you for any support you can offer.$745.77 of $1000.00
