What caused this need?

This is a situation where a single dad and the grandmother are raising a special needs infant. The school therapist has recommended that they obtain an exersaucer to help the child start sitting in a more upright position.The dad had been unemployed, but has recently started temporary employment with the possibility of going to full time. In the meantime, they are struggling to catch up and money for equipment is an issue.
