What caused this need?

This has been a challenging year for this boy. His mom has been in and out of treatment, and he has been staying with relatives throughout the year. His mom just entered treatment again, and so he is staying with his aunt and uncle. They are able to take him, unfortunately their budget does not allow for any other additional expenses.
