What caused this need?
This elderly woman was totally independent, until she suffered a stroke on 11-5-14. Her bed is very old and worn out and her couch is too large for an assisted living apartment and she had not been able to sit in it for years anyway due to it being too low to the ground. She also suffers from asthma and this is why a leather or vinyl material is preferrable.
