What caused this need?
The family is currently going through a divorce and income is very tight. The mother has been through a lot during the course of an abusive relationship with the children's father. She is now trying her best to raise the family by herself and is currently in the process of finding a job. There are 4 children in the family ages, 7, 6, 4 and 2 years old. They would greatly benefit from YMCA programs to keep them active and be able to spend quality time together this summer. Their 5 year old daughter has down syndrome, celiac's disease and a weak immune system. She is very sick quite often and in and out of doctors' appointments. The YMCA would be a positive place for her be actively engaged in activities and continue learning and growing with her siblings this summer.
