Support for Occupational Therapy Using Hippotherapy

The family of a toddler in the community is seeking support to help cover the cost of Occupational Therapy using Hippotherapy for their child who is experiencing delays in their development. Hippotherapy is horse-based therapy, used to engage clients in unique ways to support functional gains. Children gain skills by caring for, riding on, and talking to the horses. This family has been very dedicated to supporting their child’s needs, participating in school and medically based therapies and providing them many excellent opportunities for development. They recently participated in a screening for Occupational Therapy using Hippotherapy and found their child to be wonderfully engaged and motivated to participate. Later that day, their child stood up from the floor by themselves for the first time, something they had been working on for months. Unfortunately, this child’s insurance does not cover hippotherapy. The family intends to pay cash for the 12 week session, which will cost about $2600. The family is not seeking support to cover the entire cost of their child’s Occupational Therapy using Hippotherapy, but shared that any bit helps as they budget to cover the cost of this, in addition to the many other costs of a family with young children. https://www.makingstridestherapy.com/hippotherapy
