Replacing the salt machine for hard water.
Replacing our home's water treatment system is an important need for our family. Our current salt-based water softener is approximately 11 years old and is nearing the end of its useful life. The system requires ongoing maintenance, including purchasing, lifting, and hauling heavy bags of salt, which has become increasingly difficult to manage. We are seeking to replace the existing system with a non-saltwater treatment system that effectively addresses our home's hard water issues while reducing the physical demands associated with maintaining a traditional salt-based softener. The estimated cost for replacement is approximately $6,000. This need is particularly important because of my daughter's disability. Having a reliable water treatment system helps maintain a safe, functional, and healthy home environment while reducing physical burdens associated with routine household maintenance. What caused this need?
The cost of replacing the system creates a significant financial hardship for our family. I am a single mother raising two daughters after losing my husband to pancreatic cancer in 2021. Since his passing, I have worked hard to provide for my children, maintain our home, and remain employed full-time while managing all household responsibilities on my own, and managing my daughter with disabilities. I have recently learned that I will be laid off from my job over the summer, which will create additional financial uncertainty and make it even more difficult to afford this necessary replacement. Assistance with this expense would help ensure our home remains safe and functional while relieving a burden that I am unable to manage on my own.
