What caused this need?

Mom was violently assaulted in July 2014 and she was two young daughters (ages 7 and 4) who witnessed the assault. Mom is employed full time but had to take a personal leave from work as a result of the assault. Unfortunately, her PTO has now been used and most of her personal leave has been unpaid time. Mom will be returning to work on September 8, 2014 and will be able to pay rent again in October but does not have enough money to pay her rent for September. She is unable to receive a cash assistance grant to pay that month as she has not been evicted as of yet. Mom and her daughters are trying to move forward after this assault and Mom is hopeful that she can continue to provide their current stable housing for her daughters and prevent falling behind in rent and face possible eviction.
