What caused this need?

I am working with a mom and her three children ranging in ages from 10-4 years old. The mom has just started working and is trying to get a place of her own after staying with family upon making a decision to have a healthier life for her self and her children. One of the children struggles with bed wetting and the mattresses they were using needed to be disposed of. They are currently sleeping on the floor. Thanks for your help.
