What caused this need?

I am working with a grandmother who is currently caring for her two grandchildren. The family is going through an extremely hard time right now, as their mom is in the hospital and the outcome of her condition is unknown at this time. Grandmother is working hard to balance caring for her daughter at the hospital and caring for her grandchildren at home. During a recent visit, grandmother mentioned that the children are wanting to go to Valley Fair for the day but that due to costs, she cannot afford to take them. She brushed this off and told the children she would take them fishing or do something else. I think it would be a great experience and a day to decompress from the recent stressors in this family's life if they could spend a day at Valley Fair, enjoying summer, and not worrying about what is currently going on in their family.
