What caused this need?
We have a 3rd grade grade African American student who lives in Savage and is hoping to play community baseball. His family is homeless and he does not presently have access to equipment in order to participate. This young person thrives in athletics. Because of community based supports, we are seeing the children in this family succeed academically and socially despite being chronically homeless for many years. This has included 5 different shelter/home settings in 4 years. The challenge is great and the community is continuing to reach out and try and support them. Contributing to this student’s access to athletics gives the student hope, confidence, and access to healthy activity and belonging. Thank you for considering.
