Elderly client is being asked to move out of her apartment by the management com

Elderly client requires assistance to move her belongings. This is a three-part request:1) Client needs help to move some of the contents of her apartment to her daughter's home. Items to be moved include: Twin Bed, Full Size Bed (no headboads), two small dressers, clothing, chair, small kitchen table with two kitchen-sized chairs, television and approximately 20 boxes. Client lives in Shakopee and her daughter lives in Shakopee. 2) The daughter's home is too small to accommodate all of client's belongings. The client is requesting to rent storage space (she can only afford $10.00/per month) to store the remaining belongings until she can find a place of her own. This will include 15-20 boxes, rocking chair, microwave, loveseat and television. There is currently no way to estimate how long the storage need is. We are looking for someone who is willing to donate storage space for little to no cost. 3) The client would like to donate the following furniture: Couch and 2 Recliners. She has no way to move the items to the curb for pickup by Salvation Army or anyone who is willing to pick it up. She is requesting help to move items to the curb in front of her apartment building for pick-up. It should be noted that cloth portions or furniture smell of cigarette smoke and there is some concern the Salvation Army may not choose take it. It will be up to the discretion of the driver.

What caused this need?

Elderly client is being asked to move out of her apartment by the management company. A homemaking agency is working with the client to pack boxes and prepare for the move. Client is required to vacate by 5:00 p.m. on 10/31/2014. This is not an easy assignment and will require volunteers with big hearts and open minds. As well, the client is a smoker and any person with an allergy to smoke will not be a candidate to assist. While the client is pleasant, she is also cognitively challenged and has had a difficult life. She is rough around the edges but responds very well to encouragement and kindness. Client also has a small dog. No aggressive behaviors noted or reported regarding the dog.
