Disabled Adult Must Pay MAEPD Premiums Upfront
We are requesting community support for a disabled adult who is working hard to stay independent while living on a very limited income. He works part‑time and receives Social Security, but due to high housing costs and the rising cost of basic necessities, he has no savings to cover unexpected expenses. He has been notified that, in order to avoid a monthly Medical Assistance spenddown of $755, he must pay four months of MAEPD premiums upfront. Each monthly premium is $138, bringing the total due at once to $552. This cost is essential for him to maintain his medical coverage, continue accessing necessary care, and remain stable in his home and job. However, with his current income and expenses, he simply cannot afford this upfront payment. Any assistance toward covering these MAEPD premiums would make a meaningful difference and help him maintain his health, independence, and stability.$48.59 of $552.00
