Brakes are grinding for Senior’s Honda CRV

Elderly widow struggling to keep her home, needs assistance with getting her 2012 Honda CRV's brakes replaced, which are grinding. She is worried that they will fail soon and wants them to be looked at before that happens! She needs her car to get to medical appointments and grocery shopping. She has an adult daughter who is a single mom, who has her own financial constraints so she can't help her with this expense. Widow is 68 years old and only has a monthly Social Security check of $1,500.00 with a mortgage, utilities and food to be purchased out of this income with very little to spare with an emergency car repair looming.

What caused this need?

She has persevered through health struggles, being a support to a daughter who has employment issues and a loving grandmother to a very rambunctious elementary school age boy with a learning disability: it would be so awesome to help her now with a truly necessary expense: brakes for her aging car that is her lifeline to medical appointments and other necessary commitments. Any amount would be so appreciated! She is getting other supports such as Medical Assistance since she is considered eligible for a nursing home if she cannot get in-home supports. This is a special program that she was income and medically eligible for called the Elderly Waiver (EW) Program. She has a co-pay each month of her medical expenses called a "spenddown." This is cheaper than paying for all of the Medicare expenses on her own but still is costly since her income is so low. She is so grateful for all of the help she is getting including $23.00 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) which was formally known as Food Stamps. She also gets food shelf from the CAP Agency as well as Energy Assistance Program (EAP). She has managed all of these challenges with humor and grace.
