Be the “spark” for a 70-year-old woman needs new spark plugs and coils for her 2006 Nissan Frontier
A 70-year-old female senior with extensive "co-morbidities" needs help repairing her 2006 Nissan Frontier that has lost its spark! She is very independent and needs her car for frequent doctor appointments, grocery shopping and errands. Her income is just above the Federal Poverty Guidelines at $1,360.00 a month. She pays for lot rent and utilities. Although she qualifies for the CAP Agency's Energy Assistance, that does not last the whole year. She has had heart valve replacement, pacemaker implanted, cataract surgery and with her last medical procedure was told that due to her extensive co-morbidities, they wouldn't even schedule another procedure since the potential risk would outweigh the potential benefits. She lives in an area that doesn't have mass transit and even with the CAP Agency's Chore Assisted Transportation Program, needs a car for day-to-day needs. Volunteers with this program can help out but not to the extent that having one's own car provides. She received an estimate from a local car repair place for $600.00 to replace all 6 spark plugs, a new cylinder coil, & new wires to correct it from "misfiring" and causing the car to be inoperable.$0.00 of $600.00

What caused this need?
Although her car insurance has a provision for "roadside assistance," when the car stalled last time she drove it, the towing company took over 12 hours to come, and this was the second company since the first didn't show up at all. Therefore, she wants to have it towed from her residence to a local repair shop in town and not go to Minneapolis for "The Lift Garage" that offers to repair cars at a reduced cost. If anyone knows of a repair shop that can fix this car cheaper, it will be a blessing. She has fixed other items on her car and has a device that diagnoses what is wrong with the car, but she cannot repair this herself. She said it was misfiring when it finally stopped running so she suspected it was a spark plug not functioning well.
