A Young Man in Recovery Getting Back on His Feet
A young man in recovery is working on putting his life back together. This man attended an Intensive Outpatient Treatment program with lodging. He successfully graduated the program and moved out of the sober home to live with a girlfriend. That relationship did not last and the young man has been homeless ever since. He has been staying with friends and/or family. His sobriety has been tested given the environments he has been staying in. Regardless, he remains very committed and motivated for recovery. He is wokring with a peer recovery specialist and he very recently started a new job. He is interested in moving into sober living, but will need the money for first month’s rent and deposit. As part of his picking up the pieces of his former life, he recently went to a tax preparer to file the past 4 years of his taxes he previously neglected. He has refunds due to him that will help him get back on his feet, including getting into a sober home; however, he currently cannot afford the $125/year to file. He would be extremely grateful for assistance with even one year's filing fee. He is hopeful he will be able to pay for the rest with his newly earned income. The tax refunds could help him secure housing, pay for his vehicle registration, and reduce his anxiety, allowing him to focus on his new job and his recovery.$125.00 of $125.00
