What caused this need?

A client is in need of financial assistance because she moved into a new apartment in November after being homeless. She was never able to get assistance to pay for the damage deposit because the CAP Agency didn't have funding, and she didn't have enough money to pay both the first month's rent and the damage deposit. The landlord was willing to work with her until she could pay it, but now in January she still hasn't paid the damage deposit. She is now also behind on her rent for January, owing $400. The landlord has begun eviction proceedings and she now also has to pay $400 for court fees. Court is scheduled for next Wednesday 1/21, where she will have to pay the $900 security deposit, plus $500 for rent and $400 for court fees. The CAP Agency will be assisting this client with $300 towards the past due amount if she can get assistance to cover the remaining balance and can stay in her housing. The CDA has also denied her for assistance for the damage deposit, and she doesn't have any more resources to try. Any help would be greatly appreciated to prevent this client from becoming homeless again and losing her housing. **Update** This client has gone around to churches in the area and requested assistance with this funding, and as of 1/21/15, she has gathered all but $400.00 of the money. She will have court again next Monday 1/26, and needs to have the money by then.
