What caused this need?
A car dealer in Savage has agreed to sell a car at cost to a mother who has been homeless, due to fleeing an abusive relationship. She now has a restraining order against the father of her two daughters, but is making huge strides to becoming independent and providing a good home for them and regaining custody. She is industrious, and has found employment, is going through job coaching, budget counseling and English classes to increase her chances of success. She has put $200 down on the vehicle, but needs to save her earnings for the deposit and first month's rent on a new apartment. Although she walks a lot, and her job is within 2 miles of the new apartment, with winter coming and with the need to pick up her daughters when they are with her, she needs this vehicle. It is a 2005 Kia Rio with only 61,000 miles. She is currently living with a member of our church, as there are long waiting lists for the shelters, and this member reports that she is hardworking, humble and determined to make a better life for her daughters.
