Safety Equipment for Bathroom
There is a 7-year-old boy in the community who has a bone condition which puts him at risk for breaking bones and limits his mobility. About 2 years ago he had an injury relating to his condition, which substantially reduced his independence. Since then he has been unable to use the bathroom in his family’s home due to his impairments and his family’s fear that he may fall and get injured again. In the school environment, this student has practiced using the bathroom with adult assistance and use of two devices to improve his safety: bars to allow for stability while standing at the toilet and a safety belt to allow for appropriate assistance if he were to start to fall. We are looking for funding to provide this family a set of toilet bars ($28) and a safety belt ($47) for use in their home so that this child is able to safely access his family’s bathroom again.
