What caused this need?

I work with a client who suffers from chronic back pain. She received a mattress 10+ years ago, which is in need of replacement. This client is no longer able to lay comfortably on this mattress and does not have the funds needed to replace it. Her current box spring is functional, just needs a new soft mattress or overlay.
